Have you found yourself at a restaurant having a number of friends, and once the food finally arrives, when you be able to to bite into it, one (or even more) within your friends stops to have an image? This all-too-familiar sight is really what has prompted Google’s latest venture; and we’re unsure if we’re big fans.
The brand’s latest app, Im2Calories, is usually an artificial intelligence software using algorithms to estimate the sheer numbers of calories in your Instagram food photos. Apparently, the power behind this app will be to simplify the process of maintaining a food journal.

And so how exactly does it work? In line with Google research scientist Kevin Murphy, “The system gauges how big is parts of food in terms of the dish to have a calories estimate, plus the user are going to have the possibility to approve or disapprove and then make corrections when the software misreads your pics.”
Now, we’re sure the app isn’t exactly accurate, but can average your daily, weekly or monthly calories at an approximate, more or less several 100 calories occasionally (which FYI, is really a large undocumented amount with the serious weight watcher). Naturally, the habit of an individual Instagramming their food was annoying enough already; we really didn’t need people to perpetuate it.
